I HAVE MANY OPINIONS ON THE ISSUES YOU HAVE RAISED HERE.
WITHOUT WRITING A COMPREHENSIVE ESSAY, HERE'S SOME POINTS ON YOUR VIEWS:
* Breeders: We screen our customers to insure that our puppies go to
good homes.
Our opinion: Regardless of weather a puppy goes to a good home, this is
one less potential home for a dog waiting adoption.
REPLY: FIRSTLY, CHECK YOUR GRAMMAR. IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO LOOK EDUCATED
IF YOU'RE GOING TO WRITE SUCH OPINIONS. PUPS LEARN THEIR MAJOR LIFE
SKILLS IN THE FIRST 12 WEEKS OF THEIR LIVES. A REPUTABLE BREEDER CAN ENSURE
THE FIST 8 WEEKS ARE TAKEN CARE OF, A RESPONSIBLE OWNER CAN ENSURE THE
NEXT 4 WEEKS.
* Breeders: We test our dogs for genetic defects and are attempting to
"better the breed".
Our opinion: It is because of breeders having created different breeds
of dogs in the first place, that many of today's purebred dogs are
prone to certain types of health problems. Breeders began breeding dogs to
look a certain way or have a certain disposition, mother nature would
have bred dogs to survive.
REPLY: IF DEFECTS OCCUR IN PUREBREDS, THEN WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT FROM
MIXED-BREEDS? MORE DEFECTS? IS THAT NOT THE COMMON SENSE YOU SPEEK
ABOUT?
* Breeders: Because of certain types of living conditions, some people
need to have a purebred dog so they know what to expect from it, such
as how large it will get.
Our opinion: "Mixed breed" dogs are just combinations of different
breeds of dogs. You can generally tell what types of breeds a mixed breed
is made up of, and can therefore get a fairly good idea of what it will
look and act like when it's older.
REPLY: NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE. HAVE YOU BEEN TO MANY OFF-LEASH DOG PARKS
AND SPOKEN TO OWNERS SURPRISED AT THEIR DOG'S GROWTH? WHAT YOU SAY IS
SIMPLY NOT TRUE.
* Breeders: If we allow "just any" dogs to breed, we would eventually
be left only with "mutts".
Our opinion: If we allowed just any dogs to breed, we would be letting
mother nature take it course and mother nature would create different
breeds. (We are not suggesting to simply let dogs do what it is that
dogs like to do, we propose that all dogs should be fixed until our humane
societies no longer need to put dogs to sleep.)
REPLY: I WONDER IF THE DOMESTIC DOG WOULD EVEN EXIST TODAY IF "MOTHER
NATURE" HAD CONTROL? IT IS A VERY IDEALISTIC VIEW, BUT WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE
OF THE REALITY, YOU CANNOT SAY WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO DOGS HAD
THEIR ANCESTORS, THE WOLF, BEEN LEFT TO BREED UNASSISTED. MY GUESS IS
EXINTICTION.
AGAIN, I AM NOT A BREEDER, JUST SOMEONE WHO FINDS MANY OF YOUR
OPINIONS, SIMPLY WRONG AND HIGHLY MISLEADING.
